As mothers, we are always looking for fun things to do with our children. Social distancing is no exception. Now more than ever is when we need to come together and share ideas of various activities or places we have discovered.
If you are near Austin, make plans to visit Krause Springs in Spicewood, Texas. Located in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, Krause Springs is a well-known natural spring-fed swimming hole, with luscious butterfly gardens, 100-year-old cedar trees, and Texas-sized windchimes. The 115-acre property is listed on the National Registry of Historic Sites and has been privately owned by the Krause Family for over 50 years. The water is very cold, but even if you just want to walk around the property and take pictures it is definitely worth it!
I should mention you should always try to make an online reservation first, but stop by in case they have availability as guests leave. There is a fee to enter the property, children 4 and under are free. You are welcome to bring your own picnic lunch or snacks and drinks as there is no food on-site. If you plan on going swimming be sure to bring your swimsuit, towel, water socks, and floaties for the kids. I was not able to go swimming in the spring due to the steep staircase made out of stones but was able to walk around, with help, and enjoy the scenery.
Texas never ceases to amaze me with its variety of natural beauty. I hope you make the trip to Krause Springs with your family to get out of your daily routine take a breath of fresh air and bask in God's creation.
